Description
Standard issue WWII German 6×30 power binoculars, in tan, complete with original leather strap and brown leather rainshield. The binoculars are manufactured from tooled metal alloy with moulded brown Bakelite fittings.
The pair are from the manufacturer, Swarovski, Tyrol, Austria, with the maker code cag, impressed on the left ocular with a triangle, indicating cold weather lubricant used.
The right ocular end, body panel is well marked with the impressed designation, “Dienstglas 6 x 30”. The marking “Dienstglas” meaning service glasses, was introduced in the late 1930s. The serial number is also stamped 153265
The individual focus adjustments still function and lens bodies and end pieces retain most of their painted, ordnance tan, finish, with a brown finish to the protective covers. They have both moulded bakelite eye sockets intact and the focus adjustment still functions. The optics are in reasonable condition and like a lot of wartime optics could do with a clean.
The leather chinstrap and protective cover are both in very good condition.
A good used pair.
